So a couple of weeks ago I came across reference to the Oxford Internet Institute's Summer Doctoral Programme. I'm so totally applying. They say they may have scholarships, which is good becuase tuition, room, and partial board (lunches during the week and some dinners) is currently estimated at 1200 pounds (that's $2200 at current exchange rates for those playing along at home). I recently decided to set aside a large chunk of my holiday money and various other dollars that have come my way in the past month for the express purpose of helping to pay for a plane ticket to London should this actually be possible.
I just got curious and looked up plane ticket prices. It is very not-cheap to fly from Hartford to London in July and August. Not even a little. Boston makes it a little cheaper. But still my dollars are not going to put that much of a dent in the cost of plane ticket. *sigh*
Of course, this is all dependent on them deciding I'm cool enough to get one of the 25 spots available.
