Mar. 15th, 2004 03:54 pmI've realized that over time I'm friends-locking more and more of my posts. Don't know why. Just am. Maybe I should do some auto-ethnography for my dissertation. Or something.
There was a clerical error in the summer continuing ed request form. Actually there are TWO first-session classes. This is a very good thing. This DOUBLES my summer employment options! And M pointed out over the weekend that I could find out when Bob & Sandy would be making the assignment decisions and see if it was going to be after I hear back from Oxford. After talking to Bob about this, I have ranked 5 classes (in order: social problems, social class inequality, society and the individual [this is the one that I specifically asked to have offered & now can't rank first because it's a second-session class], theories and perspectives, and gender & society) and added a note saying that I'll drop the last 3 requests if I go to Oxford. If I'm NOT accepted to Oxford... I may re-rank to put society & the individual above inequality, but I may not. Depends on how bratty and selfish I'm feeling at the time - I really want to go to Pennsic (who would ever have thought that I'd go to three Pennsics in a row, to say nothing of four! And this year I wouldn't even have to leave early, since I'm not going to the ASAs) and that's a second-session class.
Other observations:
Josh Groban is so cute that he ought to be illegal.
I have officially crossed over to the dark side. I'm drinking diet Sprite.
I REALLY wish that digitalputty wasn't broken. I need to be able to check my e-mail to figure out plans for the weekend.
Emile Durkheim had some crazy-ass ideas about gender and the public/private spheres. But they're interesting and making me think dissertation-y thoughts so I suppose that's a good thing.
