Yesterday on All Things Considered, there was a story on scrapbooking. (Audio link here, the story title is "Scrap Book Craze"; it's about 3/4 of the way down the page.) The one "scrapper" they interviewed was very focused on how scrapbooking can turn what might otherwise be bad memories into good ones. Basically, she was saying that by scrapping, you can construct this alternate reality where you went on vacation and the kids didn't fight and whine all the time, etc. You can block out the bad and focus only on the good. You can, in effect, rewrite a little bit of history.

Nostalgic escapism? Seems a little weird to me...
