I had such big plans...

Last night I was gonna cut out M's new fencing undertunic and his hoods, and watch the rerun of last week's Project Runway. I dragged everything downstairs, started figuring out cutting layouts, came upstairs to look at
cvirtue's hoods page, and then...
pffft.
The power went out. I figured it was a blip, so I went outside to turn off the sprinklers. All up and down the street, neighbors were coming out of their houses looking confused. It was about 8:15 pm.
I came back in and shut down Eloisa and M came up from the basement... We dragged the porch chairs out onto the driveway and sat and read and watched the neighborhood until it got too dark to read anymore. At one point M called the power company and was told that 90 people were affected (how do they count people? They don't know how many folks live in our house...) and that it should be fixed by 11 pm. We were skeptical. The power company truck drove by and a couple of guys poked around about halfway down the block. M went for a walk and determined that about 2/3 of the way down our block, there were streetlights but no residential lights. The traffic light 2 blocks away and past that had full power, though.
After it got too dark to read, I figured I'd use having nothing else to do as an excuse to call
laurakc and hear all about her carnivorous familial adventures in St. Louis (gotta eat the thawed meat before it spoils, y'know. With onions. And herbs.) and about the hilarious things that her niece (who's about the same age as TRex) is doing. (It occurs to me that the last time I called her out of the blue was when I was on an aimless drive to recharge my car battery... something about a lack of electricity and calling her...)
And then we got ready for bed by the light of the hellaciously bright fluorescent lantern. At 11:00 on the nose, the power came back on. Whoo! At about 11:10 it went out again, and then came back on again at 11:30. When we went to sleep, it was still on, but we know it went out at least one more time, coming back on around 2 am.
