oh, the shame...

A while back I was cleaning out the filing cabinet and came across several folders of poetry and fiction that I wrote in high school. I'm a huge pack rat and I want to keep all of this stuff, but there's no reason to keep hard copies of it. So this afternoon, I started re-typing it so that I can archive it to CD and be done with it.

Dear LORD is it awful!!!!!! I'm pretty sure a lot of you out there wrote truly heinous high school poetry, but I don't think that you realize quite how horrific it is until it's staring you in the face.

Oh, the pain....

Going to scald out my brain now...

Or should I say....

The sheer awfulness
of the poetry,
I want to burn,
sear,
cauterize,
clear my brain
of the wounds
inflicted
by my own words.

I hope you can find a useful kernel in there somewhere. If not, at least you can enjoy the pretty fire while you burn the evidence.
