You've had the opportunity to see a lot more about that race than I have - I haven't sought it out.

Control of both houses IS up for grabs - the buzz I heard a couple of weeks ago was that it looked like the House would flip and the Senate wouldn't (or was it the other way? I can't remember...). But I just don't have that much faith in the Democratic party to present a unified front / cohesive policy agenda that I think it'll make a huge difference. But I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong.
