Well, it is true that my car will only reliably go in one direction - forwards. According to our friendly neighborhood mechanic, it's getting confused and trying to be in both drive and reverse at the same time. (More evidence for the superiority of standard transmissions, say I.) But it's a secondary car for us anyway and will be donated someplace as soon as we get our act together to coordinate said donation.
