Things I have learned:

If you wear a size 10 pant, you must be 5'7" tall.  (I consistently have to take 3" off of my size 10 pants.)
If you wear a size 8 pant, you must be 5'6" tall.  (I took 2" off of a pair of size 8's yesterday.)

hrmmm - i guess for 5' you'd have to be a size 2?

Yay petites! :) heh

Quite. I should probably shop in petites but I usually don't. I just hem.

Petites are too short in the crotch for me. I also got some new pants today and need to *whack* the legs.

Add to the things you learn:

If you are 4'10, you better learn to hem, cause not even the petites expect anyone to be that short.

Some labels have 8 (or whatever) short, that aren't petites, would they work? (If I buy a pair of pants with the intention of hemming them, they never get worn. Like the pair that's been in a pile in my bedroom for going on two years . . . .)

I'm 'average height', and I often have to hem. Drives me nuts. I think a lot of jeans and pants manufacturers have taken to making their lengths standard for tall people, so everyone else has to hem. I know Dress Barn has this problem. And yes, I consider it a problem. They're lazy and won't produce three lengths. Instead, they produce one and expect at least 2/3 of the rest of the population to hem. Hmph.

or, if you're like me (about 5'2") and I have no butt and no thighs, I HAVE to shop in the jrs dept for pants so that they don't just hang off my thighs. Who btw likes the option of buying "short" style pants and after having a baby almost 4 months ago am in a size 8-9 pant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a tall person, I have to object to the idea that they make jeans 'standard' for longer people - I have to go out of my way to find stores that stock super-long styles to get ones that cover my ankles - and it's a *lot* harder to add denim than whack it off ;)

Apparently 5'8" is the height at which all pants in regular size become too short. I either have to find a store that sells talls or look like I am waiting for some high water.
