Buffalo weather: 0, Us: 1

M had to go to baronial meeting tonight and the weather was already awful - he described our driveway as a "skating rink" before he left.  The car apparently did quite nicely on the disgustingness (thank you, Subaru AWD).  The power has flickered a couple of times in the past 15 minutes or so; I have the lantern and a flashlight handy in case the power does go out.

Yeh, it's pretty damn nasty out. We just had thunder and lightning during heavy snow. :(

It's coming as pure ice here. M came home from the meeting wondering if he should bother prepping for class tomorrow, since he feels pretty confident that the college is going to close.

LOVE the Subaru AWD. We refer to one trip we took (in the middle of a snowstorm ... we passed a snowplow that was in a ditch) as "the bad-weather Subaru commercial." We rocked.

Happily for once we didn't have to go anywhere last night, so once I got home we settled in for the duration. After watching the weather reports hubby went out and made sure the generator would start and was full of gas, and we checked and distributed the flashlights. The lights flickered a couple of times before I went to bed, so I set the battery-powered alarm clock just to be sure. Then I woke up about every 15 minutes just to see if the power was still on. Around 2:30am I figured it was probably going to stay on (it did), so I finally really went to sleep. Praise for the hard-working road crews - my drive to work was a bit sloppy but not bad at all.

Yeah, we went out to go sledding Wednesday around 11 and the Buffalo/Amherst roads were not bad. They were actually WORSE yesterday morning, after they'd gotten all nice and slushy and I was actually slipping a teeny bit on our little side street.

Are you ready for the big storm this weekend? 10-13 inches between today and Sunday morning, plus winds tomorrow of course. How nice of it to come on a weekend for a change, and not mess up the work/school week. They said the snow was supposed to arrive this afternoon but it's 9am and already snowing in the city. I think it's going to be a "fun" drive home tonight!

*goes to look out the window*
yup, snowing at DYC, too. My in-laws are SUPPOSED to be coming in to visit this weekend - we'll see what happens with that. We told TRex this morning that there's supposed to be snow up to mama's knees and she said "I will walk in it."

Ok, so last time you posted the weather was gorgeous. Now you have a skating rink...what a crazy winter this has been. Is it Spring yet?

Yup, welcome to life on the Great Lakes. It's completely schizophrenic. If it makes you feel any better, we're supposed to get a foot of snow tomorrow.
