What happens when I do data analysis...

... is that I feel like I have lots of things I should be blogging about, too!  But then I have no inspiration - just none at all.  So you get total randomness.

So... Mac users, have I recently extolled the virtues of Journler lately?  (Also... have I mentioned that M bought a new machine and we will soon have matching Macbook Pros?  As soon as the ITS guy who's setting his up figures out how to get it to triple-boot?  I am amused...)  I seriously could NOT live without this program.  It's my to-do list, my dissertation notes, my snippets of writing for EVERYTHING, where I jot ideas, where I send web receipts, where I put recipes that I get online, etc.  It's no coincidence that its icon is a moleskine notebook.  Other software I'm using... Slife for time-tracking but it's pretty ... full of personality.  Actually, the biggest issue with Slife is that some stuff is REALLY non-intuitive and they have no documentation to speak of yet - but they're working on it.  It recently came out for Windows as well.

We took TRex to the zoo today.  She took her camera with her; I can't wait to download her pictures and see what she took.  I know she TRIED to shoot the sea lions through the glass but I don't think it came out.

I just finished reading Cold Mountain.  I am NOT a reader of the Civil War novel, but damn I loved that book and now I want to see the movie, though I'm quite certain it won't be as good as the book was.  Bonus points for Jude Law, though.

And can anyone explain to me why I really can't STAND the process of making the next day's lunches?  Seriously, I dread that task every single school night.

I'd been wondering why there was nothing on the Mac that approximated OneNote...now I find out there is!

And that is why I posted about it... it's a thing of beauty, really. The development seems to have gotten to be a bit too much for Phil so the future of the application is a bit uncertain right now, is the only thing.

Oh, and did I mention that it's scriptable? And that Phil is planning iCal integration for version 2.6?

Ooh, I'm going to have to look for a copy at the library book sale this week. I've been curious about it for a while, and also have not yet seen the movie. (I've been dying to read No Country For Old Men, which Alex says was very true to the book, but I still need to let that movie fade a bit more.)

I'm also anti lunch making. Sandwiches are so much better when someone else makes them.

Thing is, I don't even eat sandwiches. My lunches are always leftovers or a veggie burger. But there are THREE OF THEM and that's I think a part of the problem.

That's why I was doing bento boxes when the boys were in daycare. They took just a little longer, but I got to be creative and it felt like art. Can you do it before trex goes to bed and have her help?

TRex does like to help with her lunch... maybe we could fit that into some evenings. The amount that I dread that task is WAY out of proportion with how onerous it really is.

I definitely go through phases of *loathing* particular chores. I'm entertained now to think back on how deeply I resented making the bed a year or so ago. Could you trade chores with M for a week or two? Or take a ridiculous everyone-eats-prepackaged-whatever vacation for a few days? For me, a break from the most hated chores makes a big difference in turning loathing+dread back into appropriate mild irritation -- for example, a couple days of the bed not being made (or C. making it!) easily convinces me that, while annoying, it's definitely actually worth my time!

it's good to know I'm not the only one who gets so burned out on silly tasks. M doing lunches unfortunately would result in everyone being sent to work/school with nothing but deli meat between two slices of bread and MAYBE a string cheese (and I eat none of those food products). Likewise prefab food is not on my WW plan (which I am back to following relatively rigorously) and also there would be a LOT of label-reading to make sure it's nut-free for preschool. I think I am going to get TRex involved, though. She would love that.

ick - lunch-making

...is one of my least favorite tasks. I think that part of the problem is that I'm so tired that all I want to do is fall down...but if I leave it 'til the morning I *always* regret it because there is never enough time. (And I'm just making lunch for the 2 kids - I almost never get it together to deal with adult food)
