Zoey Bartlett endorses Excedrin Migraine. And one of the other Bartlett daughters (woe... bad fangirl... can't think of her name... the one in med school at Hopkins) endorses Claritin.

Freaks me out.

This message brought to you by alphasarah needs to watch less TV.

Excedrine Migraine doesn't work. Not. At. All.

(And Ellie is the other one.)

Not so. Works for me and also my brother-in-law, who both went through tons of different prescriptions of junk that did nothing.

Depends on your chemistry.

It just made me throw up. Which heralds the end of the migraine, but I don't think that's quite what the manufacturers were going for.

(I'm now on a daily med that has brought the frequency of migraines down from 5 in three weeks to one in just over a month. So I'll take it.)

Ugh. Yeah, probably not their plan. Most of the prescription stuff made me ill.

Can I ask what daily med you're taking? Mine don't happen very often, but the BIL has them a lot, and I don't believe has been given anything that was *preventative*. Might be worth a shot.

I'm on a low dose of atenolol, which is usually prescribed to lower blood pressure, but also works at preventing migraines.

It has the interesting side effect of magnifying the effects of alchohol, whihc my friends think is pretty damn funny when I get remarkably happy off of one beer.

[identity profile] elliesam.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. I already take that for a cardiac arhythmia problem. Maybe I should ask to raise the dose so my headaches go away too! :)

You did mention that you don't get them a lot... is it less than when you started taking it? I've had one with auras since I was put on it.

[identity profile] elliesam.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to think about that, since I never put the two together before. Maybe.

I wrote the BIL with the suggestion that it can't hurt to ask the Dr.

Wasn't the actress who played Ellie formerly a daughter on Roseanne

Don't ask why I know that.

[identity profile] greyhame.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, yeah, there should have been a question mark in there somewhere.

[identity profile] rufinia.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
According to imdb, no.

[identity profile] greyhame.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, oh well. She looks very familiar, though.

[identity profile] elliesam.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
She's done a ton of TV and movie stuff, playing the sister or the friend kind of roles. Examples: Sydney's sister in "The American President" or the blond receptionist in "Airheads".

I also swear that Zoe Bartlett is one of the "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" girls.

hrm, I'll have to pay attention next time I see one of those commercials.
