  1. Go to Pop Culture Madness and select the year you became 18.
  2. Paste the list of the top 75 songs.
  3. Bold the ones you liked.
  4. Strike the ones you disliked.
  5. Italicize the ones you know but don't exactly like nor dislike.
  6. Keep the ones you don't know (or are neutral about) in common text.
(The flaw with this is I've probably FORGOTTEN the songs I don't remember.)

Harry Shearer doing the voices of Bush41, Bush43 and Henry Kissinger in a hypothetical phone conversation about Iraq a year from now (as part of this week's le Show - which is a free podcast through iTMS (iTunes link)).

This video (which I also linked to in comments elsewhere) is super-cool -- gives a good sense of Casino Royale but without giving away too much plot.  I really really do like the song.

[11/06 Update: Some reviews, and tell me things I should add!  I bought Closer and Rent last weekend, and we picked up Good Night and Good Luck recently as well, so hopefully I'll see those sometime soon.]

[ETA: cut because it's really freaking long!]

And the things I've seen but want to watch again (compulsive fangirl re-watching like I do with things like HP and LOTR and StarWars doesn't count):

If it's Saturday, chances are we're cooking at our house.  Dinner was fried rice, which was enh, but TRex survived her first exposure to tofu quite happily.  She thinks it's cheese, 'cause it come sin cubes.  :^)  I need to acquire a better fried rice recipe, though.

Tonight's cooking was creamy carrot soup (a double recipe) and some bean dip from a Rachael Ray recipe on the back of a Wheat Thins box.  Have I posted the carrot soup recipe before?  I don't remember...

Interesting note:  "shit" and "ass" are apparently considered OK for basic cable after 9 pm, but "fuck" is not.  Good to know.  However, whoever is in charge of bleeping Comic Relief is being a bit overzealous... they're killing whole sentences rather than just the offending words.  Makes it hard to just listen to the show while working on the computer.

So M's department chair shared with him the existence of Queer Duck (this after M was telling him about Ollie, whose mantra is, of course, "I won't come out!", which makes us chuckle).

(Note that the episodes are NOT work safe... the rest of the site is questionable.)

I haven't decided what I think of Queer Duck yet.  M was quite amused.

OK, not really. But here's the poster for the production of Equus that he's in (in which he will, in fact, be appearing on stage deshabilĂ©).  That's some yummy Photoshop right there.  (via Electrolicious)

has been officially declared a bust.

30 Rock.  not funny.  Dialogue: stilted.  Characters: flat.  Premise:  What?  Title:  What?
20 Good Years.  Not funny.  Dialogue: overdone.  Characters:  Overdone.  Premise:  Good.  Execution:  Poor.  *sad*  I love John Lithgow, and I believed him when he declared that this was as good as 3rd Rock From the Sun.  He lied to me.

I admit it. I love Rosie O'Donnell. I decided to see how she's doing on The View and hoboy I have been laughing for the last 10 minutes... of course it doesn't hurt that there's the whole TomKatFamily Vanity Fair cover, so there's that hilarity.

So yeah. Now I'm going to go watch tennis, which is actually why I turned on the TV.

1) After talking to Henry at Apple, I'm going to take Eloisa to the Apple Store so that they can actually witness the problem rather than me trying to describe it over the phone. So that's what I'll be doing instead of working out. Joy. But at least I can go and fondle the technology.
1a) I was very annoyed that they didn't even boot up the machine and check if the problem was gone, and then I realized that I hadn't disabled the little application that masks the problem, so it's not entirely their fault that they didn't catch the failed repair. D'oh.
2) OMG Extreme Glee! Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.
3) Project Runway. Read more... )

If MySpace is as wildly popular as it is with it utterly craptacular design and user interface, I'd like to see how popular a well-designed site could be!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest )
And if Pirates III does not feature Keith Richards falling out of a coconut tree, I will be SORELY disappointed.

What on EARTH is "Pinch Me" doing in my "ShinyHappyPlaylist"? I must have been smoking something when I did that...

So M and I have been having a debate. What exactly is the plot of The Barenaked Ladies' "The Old Apartment"?

Tell me what you think.

Haha!

So I saw Corinne Bailey Rae on Good Morning, America earlier this week and found myself wondering if she was on iTMS.

Not only is she on iTMS, her debut single was one of the free downloads three weeks ago. Of course it was. Because any handlers who are getting her on GMA and Regis & Kelly on the same day are going to get her as one of the free iTunes downloads. They're not dumb, Corinne Bailey Rae's handlers.

The song is cute... catchy but not something that's going to insinuate itself into your brain and not let go.

So my favorite radio station here in Buffalo is Jack FM. This makes me feel old, but it also amuses the hell out of me, because you get playlists like the ones that accompanied me to campus this morning:

  • Bon Jovi - Shot thru the Heart
  • Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
  • Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper

Yes, this is why I call it "karaoke radio". And you can get the playlist online, too.

I'm such a pathetic dork that I really, really can't wait to see A Prairie Home Companion. I'm all aquiver about it. Robert Altman! Kevin Kline! Screenplay by Garrison Keillor! (If he wasn't involved, i wouldn't even be thinking about wanting to see it.) Woody Harrelson! (Jury's still out on the Lindsey Lohan bit...)

*squee*

I was attempting to explain why I want to see it so badly to M, but it just can't be explained. To me, Saturday night means PHC. It always has. The big excitement when they'd do free previews of the Disney Channel (before it was part of basic cable) was that we could watch PHC. I'm so sad that our NPR station here doesn't have it - Marian McPartland (one of my childhood idols) and Fiona Ritchie are great, but it's just not quite the same.
