New layout, and miscellanea
Sep. 8th, 2006 02:13 pmI was getting bored with the old layout, so I'm trying something new... Jury's still out on whether or not I actually like it.
I'm generally not a Lysol-type-gal (I believe that germs in small quantities are GOOD FOR US) but DAMN does their mildew remover work. Our upstairs shower is all sparkly now. Yay. Next project: patching up some grout that appears to be cracked. This means that we will be showering/bathing downstairs tomorrow. We'll deal.
Now I'm going to go sit on the porch in the sunshine and read (academic stuff, even!). Go, me.

Apr. 25th, 2006 01:42 pmHas 'blogging completely taken over my brain? I'm realizing that I don't write in plain text anymore... I write in hypertext. I know that David is going to do the html markup of my review for publication at RCCS, but I can't keep myself from inserting some of my own links, just because that's how I think now.
It's like back in the day (oh, how I hate it when students use that phrase), when Trevor was reading the New Hacker's Dictionary and tried to "click" on some text that he wanted to follow up on. We pointed out to him that it was a book and that books weren't hypertextual.
This needs to be explored further, probably on How Very Meta once my brain is able to think about anything but this book review.
*back under the pile*

OK, this is wonky. I'm looking at my Bloglines recommendations, and based on my current subscriptions, it's recommending to me things like the New York Times, the Washington Post, etc. Also, the LiveJournals of
insidian,
nalyirri and
bryiarrose (who isn't on my FL but I know is on some of my friends'), misc other blots on
aethera's server (which makes sense since her blog is one of my feeds). What I don't get is how it knew to give me a bunch of HP-related feeds. Damn, it's smart.
On that note, dudes with RSS feeds... at some point soon I'm moving all my RSS subs over to Bloglines. Just so you don't, y'know, get all LJDrama on me when I un-friend your feeds. ;^)
