Connecticut Light and Power was on our block yesterday afternoon/evening.  We're cautiously optimistic about getting power back sometime today.

Open letter to all the pissy people

Yes, it sucks that you still don't have power.  But bitching and moaning about it isn't going to get you power any faster, and it's making life more miserable for the rest of us (including those of us who have ALSO been without power for seven and a half days).  Suck it up.  At least you appear to be wearing clean pants, so you're up on me.

PS: Hearing you talk about how you have family and friends who've been helping you out, or bitching about how they didn't do as much as you wanted them to, doesn't make me feel better, either.

On a more positive note...

I'm excited to be going to visit friends tomorrow, even if I might have to do a 2-hour drive solo with TRex (depends on if we get power back/wehther M feels like he will be able to get enough work done while we're there).  I was thinking I wanted some caffeine, and when I came to the faculty lounge to eat lunch there was not only free coffee (ok, there's always free coffee, but this was DECENT free coffee, as opposed to the crap that comes out of the machine in the kitchenette) but there were miniscones and minimuffins.  And I got to chat with a couple of friends (one from sociology, one from religious studies) that I hadn't seen since May or so.  And they were doing a raffle drawing but M didn't win anything - I was prepared to pretend to be him if he did win, and Jonathan was going to vouch that I was, in fact, allowed to do that.  ;^)

Cue the choir of angels...

Came home from picking TRex up at daycare... 

M went to open the house while I got her out of the car.

He opened the door and let out a whoop of joy.

Yes, you heard it here first (unless you're baronessmartha or childsplay7, that is)...
