1) I wasn't commenting on anybody's choices.  C'mon guys... you should know me better than that.  Some people are good candidates for parenthood; other people are meant to be the crazy aunts and uncles; still other people should stay far, far away from all small humans.
2) What I found interesting was that the writer was both celebrating her child-free life AND mourning the joys that she'd given up.  So often people on both sides of the debate can't or won't see the pluses to the other side.

Anyway.  You can read the whole piece here.

I've been listening to the audiobook (ITS link) of The Areas of My Expertise over the last while...  Except that I'm doing it as I do other things, so I'm not giving it my full attention.  Which means that mostly I'm listening to John Hodgman's mellow and relaxing voice and occasionally I'll actually pay attention and find myself baffled by stories of ninja vengeance or hobo kings.  Which is just bizarre...

Here's some ABC coverage of the GlobalWarming101 expedition, provided by my old friend Elizabeth (who got frostbite and had to leave the expedition for a while to get it treated).  The video is pretty amusing (to me) because it just reminds me of being five and hanging out in the housemom apartment of the SAE house.  (Liz is the one who doesn't do most of the talking in the video.)
