whoo! from the homefront

My parents are constantly sending me clippings from the hometown newspaper. Usually it's the engagement/wedding announcements of people I went to high school with, etc. Today I got one of those thin envelopes that I know will have newspaper clippings in them. Instead of wedding announcements, though, the headline of the article is "Gordon named principal".
Uwe Gordon was one of my all-time favorite teachers - I was in his classes for 8th grade civics and 9th grade geography & Oklahoma History. It's partially his fault that I'm a Cubs fan. It's certainly his fault that I'm into the social sciences. He had moved into administration (first as disciplinarian at our junior high, and then into principal & superintended positions in some of the small surrounding districts) by the time I graduated from high school. And now the "new" principal who was hired my junior or senior year of high school is retiring, and Mr. Gordon has gotten the job.
So, y'know, hooray!
