I'm showing Kinsey to my class tomorrow, so I watched it last night to know what I'm getting into. ;^)
In general, I really enjoyed the movie. Liam Neeson and Laura Linney were fantastic. It's not action-packed (hey, it is a biopic) but there is more sex than I thought there would be. ;^) It does a good job of showing how Kinsey went from being a taxonomist to being a sexologist, and some of what drove him towards the maniacal pursuit of his research. I think it will prompt some interesting discussion among my students.
There should have been more Tim Curry, though. ;^)

Date: 2006-05-31 07:04 pm (UTC)Neeson and Linney were indeed fantastic. The movie does gloss over a lot of the ethical issues of Kinsey's research (though it brings some of them up, I think it kind of just drops them). And of course it takes plenty of liberties with Kinsey's biography. It's a good movie either way. :)
