Miscellanea...
Jun. 27th, 2005 11:51 amParents were here for a week. Dad was at a conf at MHC, Mom hung out with us and watched TRex while M and I started the process of packing. Hallalujah he saw the light that we should do more than just organize & inventory stuff... Living room now full of boxes. Most of them are Yellowtail boxes, prompting J&J to accuse us of being lushes. And yet they were the ones who wouldn't stay to drink champane with us. Boxes need to be moved upstairs to the crapden, aka the study.
The a/c in my office has decided NOT to create a river across the floor today. This is a good thing.
Oklahoma-worthy thunderstorms yesterday while we were enjoying the air-conditioned mall. The power went out several times; Target is wicked dark in the 20 seconds between the power going out and the generator kicking in. It was odd to see which stores had generators and which didn't. While we were sitting in the food court enjoying our Dairy Queen treats, the power went out and the only store that had lights on was PacSun. Weird. TRex thought the hard rain was pretty nifty... kicked her fat little legs all over the place when we took her outside to get splashed by it.
Have gotten no academic work done for the past two weeks. Sucks. First M was out of town, and then parents were in town, and yeah. Books to read. Notes to take. Dissertation prospectus to write. MUST have a first draft done before we move. I WANTED to have the damn thing defended before the move, but we're now down to a month before closing and 5 days of that we'll be in Oklahoma, and another week of it is the week that we move.
Chatting with J about high school and who we've lost touch with and who we're interested to see (both in a we'd-like-to-see-them sort of way and in a morbidly-curious sort of way) at the reunion next month. Sadly many of our folks aren't able to make it due to jobs and vacations and such. Ah, well. Will be interesting in any case. Need to continue efforts to convince R that it really is worth driving in from Memphis for the weekend even if he wasn't in our class. Maybe he could go as A's date or something.
Have to go to Albany for homebuyer training. Meh. At least maybe I'll be able to hook up with an internet friend and meet her twins.
Yay, going to see
master_mr and E this weekend (dude - e-mail me so we can work out details). Once a year is not often enough to see good friends, even in years when there are massively extenuating circumstances. And
jennybeast, give us a call. You can still crash with us if you come up to visit, and we'd ADORE seeing you!
Dude.
aethera. Masssive hugs. Glad y'all are getting back to even more normal than before, if you two can ever really be called normal.
OK. I think that's it for now. I need to get an LJ client that supports tags.
