What to do, what to do?

Das kind is in bed, as is M (with a migraine).  It's 8:00 on a Saturday night and I'm at loose ends, so of course I'm mucking about on the Internet!

I think I'm going to drag the stuff in from the car (we went to an SCA event today), start the dishwasher, and then go downstairs to continue to muck about on the Internet and watch Rent while I do it.

Oh, that was the other thing...

I think I mentioned this before, but one of my very oldest friends (elementary school best friend) is one of the arctic explorers on Will Steger's "Global Warming 101" expedition across Baffin Island.  The main webpage for the expedition is here, and you can get almost-daily updates via RSS (link on the right-hand side most of the way down).  Very interesting stuff - and they're already having to rethink their routes because the ice they were planning to travel across ... well ... isn't.

Almost 10 years after I first saw the show on stage, the opening notes of 525,600 Minutes still makes my heart skip a beat.

(Somewhat) Movie Review: Rent

Damn... I don't think that show will ever not kill me.  I've seen it on stage twice (once in Minneapolis in the summer of 1997, and then again in London in the summer of 1998 - the London cast included Adam Pascal, Jesse L. Martin, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, and Anthony Rapp) and been reduced to tears both times.  Ditto for the movie...

Overall, I'm very, VERY pleased.  I may well wear this DVD out.  But I don't think M will ever watch it with me, because i can't NOT sing the entire show.
