So there's a girl in my spinning class. She's probably about my age, cognitively delayed but pretty high-functioning from what I can tell (she has a job, etc.). She's been living at home with her dad but just this week moved into a group home - the first time she's lived away from home. Her dad is in the class, too, and when he came in after she did this morning she was telling him all about what she'd done last night, what she was going to do today, the other girls in the house...
And she's just SO DAMN GLEEFUL about it that it's completely infectious. She was super-excited because the staff were taking her SHOPPING and because they will HELP HER DO HER OWN LAUNDRY. So while there's a lot of big suck going on, there are good things happening in people's lives, too.
I still think the world needs a do-over of the last several months, though.
