Back in the saddle...
Aug. 19th, 2008 10:24 amFirst run since the race (yeah, it's been almost a month), just a quickie since I have all those exciting plans this afternoon/evening. But I am definitely still averaging under a 10 minute mile. Next step is to start pushing myself on time rather than distance, to try to work up to a 10K at some point, probably in the spring.
I'm very curious to watch the Olympic 5000m. 'course NBC probably won't show it - the women's final is scheduled for Friday at 8:40 pm; the men's is Saturday at 8:10 pm.

laurakc's suggestion, I just bought Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" to put on the playlist for TRex's "music and dancing" birthday party. I gotta say, iTS is DANGEROUS - it makes buying SO EASY.
In somewhat related news, I realized today that the John Hodgman / Justin Long series of Apple ads have been airing since 2006! They just posted a handful of new ones today, and I was perusing the full listing (that link will automagically play the latest ad, which is totally worth watching but, y'know, fair warning).
In tangentially related news, I attempted to appease the iPod Karma Deities last night. You may remember that the last time I saw my beloved Juliet was at the zoo on the 23rd of July. Either she was stolen or she got lost in the shuffle of getting the kid into the car and trading strollers with our friends. Well, we were back at the zoo last night for a "welcome the new faculty" picnic. And what did I find in the gorilla house? An iPhone, in a very distinctive Tigger case. I looked around and didn't see anyone else nearby, so I dropped it in my purse and handed it off to the first zoo employee I saw (since it was after hours and the official lost & found was closed). I ran into him again later and he said that the folks had come back looking for the phone, so yay for that.
