Our poor patch of grass

We learned yesterday what is causing the very, very sad brown patches in our lawn. Apparently there's a fungus that likes a particular type of grass and thrives in warm, dry climes (as we have had this summer). M found this out while chatting with one of our Putting Green Lawn neighbors (who also has sad brown patches in his lawn). Not sure what can be done about it - must do a bit of research and try to find out if we can put down some fungicide next spring or something. Anyway. That's that.
Oh, our beetle problem is done, through a combo of the trap and their season being over. We probably trapped several thousand of them, though.
Also, whatever person at Weight Watchers decided that lawnmowing was a low-intensity activity has never mowed a lawn in their life. Or if they have, it involved a riding mower. Ditto for shoveling snow. I figure mowing is at least the same intensity as a brisk walk on the treadmill, and far more than walking at a leisurely pace (which WW also says is a low-intensity activity, which I do believe).
