New Baronial Banners.  (Not SCA filtered because there are oodles of non-SCAdian folks who will appreciate it.)

Yesterday, when it was 40 degrees out, the warning lights on my car turned off. Today, when it's below 30, they're back on. I did verify, using the time-honored method of stepping on the brakes in the garage with the door closed, that my main brake lights work. So POSSIBLY my Liddy light is out, and we know that my backup lights are out, but I'm no longer worried about somebody plowing into me because they didn't know I was stopping.

One of the joys of working from home is being able to have a mushroom & scallion omlette for lunch. Of course, there's also the temptation of fig newtons, but what can you do?

This afternoon I need to wash my hair and go get a haircut. I'm shaggy. But before I do that, I have to make more of my "shampoo".

No gym for me today; TRex had a dentist's appointment at 9 am at which they didn't even call us to fill out paperwork until 9:10. Oy. I didn't get her to daycare until 10:30. Poof! There goes gym-time!

Tomorrow we're going to our first out-of-Barony event* in Aethelmearc - The College of Three Ravens. We'll see if either one of us manages to actually go to any full classes. If nothing else, it'll be a chance to get out and meet some folks.

*Technically I guess we've been to one Kingdom-level event, but Twelfth Night was hosted locally, so it doesn't count.

If you've never tried to coordinate the schedules of 6 overcommitted faculty members, I don't recommend trying. Especially when the 6 include a department chair, a graduate program director, and the head of a research institute who is also an associate dean. It's insane. Miraculously, I found not one but TWO dates when they could all be in the same room at the same time. And they're only 2 weeks in the future! (It's less than helpful when "when can you meet" gets the following two responses: "not before the 18th" and "I'll be out of town from the 18th to the 23rd".)

Queasy tummy. Out of green tea at school. Forgot to bring more tea from home. Not a happy combo. Might go buy a cup of tea to settle tummy.

Bought plane tickets to Toronto the other day. [livejournal.com profile] cranky_dragon, I'll send you the itinerary as soon as it gets e-mailed to me. I gleefully told them I wouldn't need either a rental car or a hotel. The conference people are mad becuase they need a certain number of folks to stay in the conference hotel (it's the first time this conference hasn't been held on a university campus - it's only 4 years old) and a lot of people aren't because it's BLOODY EXPENSIVE! I say pooh on them, I'm staying with my friend who I don't see often enough. And she will kick my ass at DDR and we'll laugh about it.

Running my first-ever SCA event tomorrow. I have a long list of things that I need to bring with me in the morning. I just found out that some friends who I thought were coming up from CT aren't (sad), but it'll be good. It's gonna be a small event, I think, which is just fine since we're hosting Crown Tourney at the same site in 6 weeks. Fall Harvest has turned into kind of a dry-run for Crown. So it'll be good. Even if we don't have list ropes (very long story that I'm not going to get into at the moment).

So yeah. Herding cats, tea, Canada!, event. Whoo. Friday.

What sucks?

Insomnia sucks. Meh. I woke up at 4ish to go to the bathroom and didn't get back to sleep. Couldn't get comfortable, figured out that my head makes a funny noise when I clench my teeth. Tossed and turned and tossed and turned (it's a miracle that M didn't wake up, really) and finally hit my 1 hour of awakeness limit (if I've been lying there trying to sleep for an hour or more, it's time to stop trying). I have no idea why I can't sleep... some of it may be worrying about Fall Harvest even though it's such a small event that it should pretty much run itself. But y'know. That doesn't mean I'm not going to worry about getting stuff out ofthe storage locker, finding out exactly how to drive from Town Hall to the soccer field, not enough people bringing stuff for dayboard, etc. Meh. Time to read fanfic and hope I drift off again. No aerobics for me this morning.
