OK, so I didn't have the fun that all the folks who went to visit the Chicago crew did, but I still had a damn good weekend. Simple pleasures.
We did end up going down to CT. And we spent all afternoon & evening Sunday hanging out with good people. ('Skogen folks might remember Jost - big blond guy who was there roughly '95 - '97, fought both heavy and rapier - we were hanging at his new house.) I helped make knee-collapsingly-good chocolate truffles (I had to advise someone not to try to eat one while walking up stairs, because they might fall down) as well as also really good white chocolate truffles. I snacked on all sorts of junk food. I laughed at the kids who were tearing around the backyard. Of course there was SCA-related politicking, some of which can be read about
on my SCA blog. So yeah. When we finally left at midnight, I was just totally content & relaxed, in a way I hadn't been in some time.
And then yesterday we were just lazy... I realized at about 6 pm that the chain was still on the front door - we hadn't been out of the house. I finished reading
Turning the Storm (so good...), and then I worked on the dress I'm making for Balfar & Luna's coronation. I worked on it so much that at 11 o'clock last night it was damn near done. And it looks really good! Just like
the picture I'm trying to re-create! All I still have to do is finish the neckline and sleeves, add the lacing rings, and hem it. And I can't hem it until it's hung for a couple of days. So yeah, whee! It'll be ready to display at
Fall Harvest on the 13th.
