Effing Home Despot. Don't EVER buy carpet through them. EVER.

I ordered our carpet on the 24th of March. We were told it would be 1 - 2 weeks before it arrived at the installer. No problem.

On the 7th (two weeks after ordering), I called and asked why we hadn't heard from them yet. The nice Flooring Department manager told me that the carpet was backordered. I demanded to know why we hadn't been notified of this and he said usually they don't even know, it just gets to the installer whenever and then the installer arranges the installation with us. I pitched a fit and he said that they would move our furniture for free (nice because now we don't have to have both of us home on a day when TRex is at daycare just to move furniture around). He also found out that the carpet had come in sooner than they'd expected and should be at the installer by April 14th.

Today is April 19th. I hadn't heard anything from the installers so I called Home Depot. Guess what. Only ONE of our carpets arrived at the installer last Friday. The other one is still backordered, and isn't expected at the installer until the 26th. I haven't yet managed to speak to the manager to let him know exactly what I think of this new development. But it's going to be VERY hard for me to refrain from using a lot of colorful language when I do speak to him. Because I am, as the little man down below illustrates PISSED OFF. We've now been doing without our primary living area for SIX WEEKS. I can't do laundry when I'm home with TRex because we don't want her playing on the previously very wet carpet. B had to sleep on the air mattress in my sewing room rather than on the much-more-comfy futon in the family room.

And, when it comes down to it, either they were too incompetent to give us the full information or they outright lied to us. Neither one of which is a good situation for them. And they have our damn money. THAT will be coming up in my conversation with Mister Manager Man. They have our money and have failed to deliver the product in a timely manner.

I need to find an even madder picture of Ludwig.

Yeah we tried to do our windows through them. First you can't actually use home depot girft certificate with their installers and no one at the store seemed to actually know anything. We finally set up and appointment to measure the windows, but when the guy called to confirm , he was like "I can't believe I''m coming out for only two windows" and proceeded to continue to be rude. So we cancelled the appointment and our registry with them.

Is there any way to retrieve your money and go elsewhere? I'd go down in person and not leave until the manager showed up, then ask for a refund in full and go to a local carpet store. And I don't mean the department manager, I mean the store manager. This is outrageous.

When we first bought our house we hired Home Depot to renovate our kitchen (some demolition work as well as installing the new cabinets and appliances) and it got abandoned half finished. [livejournal.com profile] new_man had a little chat with HD. They tried to claim that their contractors are independent and HD was not responsible. [livejournal.com profile] new_man can be very persuasive. He walked out of the store with a pocket full of cash and the kitchen did get finished. But never again! I even sold my stock.

In other words, I feel your pain. Give 'em hell!

That's awful! Good luck dealing with them in future.

(We tried to buy a dishwasher at the local HD, the guy there couldn't be bothered to show us anything, explain anything, know what Energy Star was, totally useless. Then we asked about installation and he got even more lifeless than before. So we went to Best Buy and the very nice teenager explained everything, let us poke lots, took our order and arranged everything. Needless to say, we don't go into HD for anything we can't carry out & install ourselves these days. Actually Michael goes there, I buy flowers there once a year and avoid it the rest of the time.)
