Jun. 12th, 2007 08:54 pmThe water pump on M's car broke. The battery in my forwards-only car is dead. This made for a VERY entertaining day today. It went something like this:
6:20 "mama the radio's on!" (TRex is to play quietly in her room until the radio on her clock radio turns on.) Morning stuff.
7:40 out the house to the bus stop - TRex in the stroller carrying her backpack of goodies, me with my work stuff in my backpack.
8:00 on the bus. We left that early because TRex is known for deciding that she does NOT want to be in the stroller anymore (esp. the umbrella stroller) and doing a patented toddler freak-out.
8:10 off the bus, walking a block and a half to daycare. Drop of TRex, head back to bus stop.
8:25 back on bus, headed downtown.
8:50 Made it to campus. Worky stuff, teach class, etc.
1:30 on train headed back outbound. Walk home from train station because there's no bus for a long time.
2:10 do work & laundry.
3:40 Get carseat from battery-dead car, bus to daycare.
4:20 Get on bus back towards home/garage with TRex and carseat.
5:15 or so Arrive at garage where car is, in fact, fixed.
Total distance walked: 3.9 miles, 1.5 of which was done while pushing the stroller AND carrying the carseat. (And another .5 just while pushing the stroller.) Total time in transit to and from various places... approximately 3 hours.
I had mapped all this out last night, and my anal-retentive planning stood me in good stead. No missed buses, no overlong waits for buses, no freaking out toddlers. And a functional car, so I don't have to do it again tomorrow. Go, me.
