My last jacket, the Columbia parka (pretty much like this one) lasted me nine years. I had actually found something similar on the Target website last night, but I wanted to assess the possibilities of repairing the one I've got. This evening, I determined that it would not be worth it to try to repair it. The zipper that holds in the lining is on top of the outer zipper (which is the one that broke), so I'd have to take both out, put on a new one, and then put the lining-holding one back on. And I'm not that good at zippers, and the jacket lasted me nine years. Having made that determination, I went back to the Target site and discovered that the jacket I was looking at is *poof* gone. *shrug* Oh well. I decided to see what Land's End had in overstocks (it is the end of the season, after all) and ordered the Land's End Weatherfield Diamond Parka, in black. It's Land's End, so it's going to last forever (unlike the Target one would have) so I'm OK with it costing twice as much. Also, it's less ski-jacket-like, so it'll be better with dressy stuff.
Of course, now our new TV is behaving badly (the screen is randomly turning a sickly green color... both over the airwaves and through cable). It's five days out of warranty, in case you're wondering.
