Orthodox (or, as they're called in Israel, "observant") Jews are an interesting bunch, that's for sure. I chat with another mom, who is observant, at the JCC on an almost-weekly basis - her kids have swimming lessons at the same time that TRex does - she's very cool and that's just the sort of thing I can see her doing.

The arguments for and against "modesty" and gender separation among observant Jews are, as far as I can tell, quite similar to the arguments for and against Muslim women covering their heads.
