Using my old (10 gb) iPod as a backup device, I can back up all of my documents including my pictures directory!  Hooray, no more burning CDs every time I have 650 megs of pictures to back up!

Nothing like doing a first run of a talk and realizing halfway through that it SUCKS MAJOR DONKEY BUTT!

I am reorganizing.  The structure that makes sense for a 35-page paper does not make sense for a 20-minute talk, it makes it too jumpy and disjointed.  Will attempt to locate some clarity while running errands and gym-ing and work on it more later.

I do love my Apple Remote, though, especially when paired with Remote Buddy.  Hooray, presentation remote!

Damn...

I've been having this problem where iPhoto won't print.  It spools to my printer (Epson Stylus CS5400), shows up on the "Completed" list, but never actually, you know, prints.  S'very frustrating.  I thought I was going to be really really smart and download the latest drivers for the printer, but that didn't fix the problem.

Ideas?

OK, here's a weird weird problem.  Last night we rebooted the wireless router, and ever since iChat can't connect to the AIM server.  I get the "Connection to AIM was lost" error as soon as I log in.  I know it's logging me in, though, because AIM Express got mad when I launched iChat while I was logged in via the web interface.  Ideas?
I really don't want to have to use the web client, and I think my mom will shoot me if she can't video chat with TRex.

ETA:  It's fixed now.  Somehow the port # got switched and I found the correct one and now it works again.

So my computer finally told me her name. It's Eloisa. The process went something like this:
I mentioned her lack of a name to Jeremy the other day and he suggested "Weezy" (because apparently she should wheeze? She whines and makes a jet-engine noise, but no wheezing).
"Weezy" led of course to Louise.
Louise led to Eloise. (Did you know that they two names are unrelated? Eloise is French, meaning smart/intelligent; Louise is old German, meaning warrior goddess).
Eloise, however, is [livejournal.com profile] ciaweth's cat. Can't name my computer Eloise lest I ultimately end up calling it Stinky (Eloise -> SmellyLouise -> Stinky).
And so she's Eloisa. Which appears to be just a horribly culturally-insensitive Spanification of Eloise, at least as far as resident expert [livejournal.com profile] nenie could guess.

But she has a name.

All in all, it's a very entertaining read for anybody who's interested in the Mac as a computer or in Apple as a company.
